Common Questions
Reservations and Information (719) 581-9572
Where and When? We will be skydiving Aug 4 - Aug 11 2012 at the Sturgis Bike Rally. We will be landing across from the Full Throttle right off the main drag.
How do I book?
Click on Reserve Now from any page. Select the date you want to go. Enter the number of jumpers and select your desired time. Complete your personal information. We will contact you to get your deposit and confirm your reservation. You can also call us at 719-581-9572.
Do I get a free tshirt if I prebook before the rally?
Yes. Book online before the rally and get a free tshirt the day of your jump.
Is the deposit part of the price?
Yes. The deposit will come off the price of the jump. So you will only have to pay the balance remaining on the day of your jump at the rally.
How old do I have to be? How old is too old? Is there a weight limit?
You must be at least 18 years old to make a skydive. The weight limit is 269 pounds. If you are over 220 pounds fees and restrictions will apply.
What should I bring with me? What should I wear?
To be able to jump, you will also need to show a valid photo ID before your skydive. Comfortable clothes that are not constricting and appropriate for the weather. For foot attire, tennis shoes are ideal - no sandals, heels, boots with hooks, or speed laces. Your shoes must be closed toe, and have a snug fit that does not allow them to be kicked off.
After I book, what next?
We will call you for the reservation deposit and give you an arrival time. After you arrive you will watch a short video, sign a waiver, and then proceed to training. We explain exit, freefall, and the parachute ride. We take a trip to the airport, takeoff, then fly around Sturgis as we climb to jump altitude. See the chip, downtown, and all the campgrounds. The parachute ride is fantastic. You can see almost all the major hot spots and its very quit and peaceful.
What happens if the parachute doesn't open?
If the main parachute fails to deploy, the reserve parachute will deploy, which
is inspected and repacked every 180 days by an FAA certified parachute rigger.
What does freefall feel like?
Freefall is not the "roller coaster drop" feeling most people expect it would be. It is a comfortable sensation of floating and support, with a slight pressure of air against your body.
Freefall is the closest thing to human flight, especially when falling "relative" with other skydivers. In relation to other skydivers in the air, a jumper can move forward, backwards, up, down and all around in the sky. He or she can dive vertically over 200 mph or achieve horizontal movement over the ground up to 60 mph. The constant air flow allows aerial maneuvers with precision and control.
Can fun jumpers come out?
If your an active skydiver with his own equipment and have a current USPA D license you can jump at the rally. Please send an email to info@sturgisskydive.com and give us your details so we can expect you. Restrictions and limitations apply.
